    Things You Shouldn’t Do Before Bed

    What’s the best thing to do after a tiring day? You answered it right. It’s hitting the bed after a long tiring day. We always have that vision at the end of the day, when we go home, where going to hit our bed and sleep soundly. It is supposed to be that way but unfortunately, there are some circumstances that we find it hard to fall asleep even if we are so tired and drained.

    There are some factors that affect our tendency to sleep fast, and that is the common reason we find it hard to hit the bed and sleep soundly. There are things you shouldn’t do before bed to be able to sleep early and continuously.


    Here are the things you shouldn't do before bed:

    1. Sleeping with your gadgets. Our tablets, cell phones, and laptops are our favorite things to hold dearly most of the time, every day. This habit is one of our mistakes we often do before sleep. Having these gadgets near your face, or fondling on it minutes before sleep makes it even harder to fall asleep. These technologies emit light that stimulates the brain thus making it hard to fall asleep. Their light tends to hinder the production of melatonin; which helps us to become sleepy. It is best to stay away from these gadgets an hour before you sleep to fall asleep effectively.

    2. Sharing your bed with caffeine. Most of us are drinking our favorite coffee in the evening when doing some deadlines and finishing works to have an attentive and alert mind. But it would be best to cut down your coffee intake if you intend to sleep later that night or else you’ll end up staring blankly into space, and won’t even have a blink and any signs of sleepiness. You’ll end up stay awake all night without rest and sleep.

    3. Devouring food with high amount of sugar, fats, spice and salt. Having all these mouth-watering food before sleep makes your stomach work overtime. You’ll feel so full and bloated and it hard to fall asleep and breath when you are so full. You will have a problem in digestion, causing stomach upset and acid reflux. If you’ll need to eat a snack before sleep it's best to choose food with high fiber content and don’t eat too much.

    4. Drinking too much fluid. It is best to stay hydrated for healthier life but doing so before sleep can disrupt your peaceful sleep in the middle of the night. You’ll end up waking up in the middle of the night and head on to the comfort room to release the liquid that’s been poking out to your bladder. If you’re thirsty, sip some water instead of the whole glass. Doing so prevents travel to comfort room in the middle of your sleep.

    5. Smoking. Smokers tend to smoke before they sleep, and that is the reason they are not able to fall asleep easily. Cigarette contains nicotine. Nicotine is a stimulant and can make you more awake thus making it worse for people who suffer insomnia. If you want to sleep soundly, it’s best to stay away from your cigarette before bed. And it would be best if you’ll be able to quit smoking as nicotine withdrawal can cause premature awakening. Makes you rise up earlier than the time you should wake up. Rising up earlier than the time you should wake up gives you not enough sleep and rest.
