    Eating disorder and its hazards to the body

    Eating disorder is often described as an illness that is caused by irregular eating habits and too much distress about body shape or weight. A person with this kind of disorder can be affected in their physical, psychological and social life. It can also lead them to make unhealthy choices of food that can eventually damage their body and health.

    Such an illness can develop at any stage in life but it appears mostly during the teen years or adulthood. Both male and female can experience eating disorder and the most common forms include Binge Eating Disorder (BED), Bulimia, and Anorexia Nervosa. These conditions can be treated however the consequences and symptoms can be deadly if not addressed properly.

    Types of Eating Disorders:

    1. Anorexia Nervosa - People who suffer from this disorder typically have a fear in gaining weight, tend to refuse in maintaining a healthy body wait and often are very unrealistic in their perception of body shape or image. Most of the people with anorexia usually limit their food intake because they see themselves as overweight even if they are obviously underweight. There is a higher risk of death in individuals with this disorder.

    2. Bulimia Nervosa - In this type of disorder people tend to do repeated binge eating but will immediately execute activities or behaviors to compensate their overeating such as taking some laxatives, extreme exercise, and forced vomiting. People with bulimia think that these are the best ways to control their weight despite the overeating.

    3. Binge Eating Disorder -When people suffers from binge eating disorder they tend to feel that they are compelled to overeat large amounts of food in a very short period of time. Individuals with this disorder may also suffer distress, intense feelings of guilt and embarrassment.
